This new leaderboard displays the top 100 FreeBingo players based on their total balance.

Unlike the daily and monthly leaderboards that only show the FB£ profit for that particular day / month, this new leaderboard shows the entire balance going back to February 2010.

Although our focus is solely online bingo, we feel that it is important that everyone has the experience of playing real bingo as it can only help when it comes to building, reviewing or promoting an online bingo game.

Recently we had two new members of staff join our team, Anni who works as my assistant here at FreeBingo, and PJ who looks after all the banners and advertising.

Anni is very much a bingo person already, having previously worked at Mecca Bingo herself.

PJ on the other hand, was very much a bingo virgin and slightly terrified at the thought of venturing into a bingo club!

On Thursday night we headed to Mecca Mayfair in the centre of Leeds where we were greeted by duty manager Helen and staff member Vicky who were fantastic to us on the night.

Vicky, bless her, had to deal with several bingo amateurs as our web designers, particularly Bob, were not the most skilled when it came to dabbing and keeping up with the calls.

In the end, Vicky had to upgrade Bob to an electronic ‘Mecca Max’ bingo board as his dabbing skills were so poor! Those things are fab if you struggle listening and dabbing, it does most of the hard work for you.

We all had a great time, and in true beginners luck style, PJ won £115.

I was also a winner, but I peaked too early winning an early full house prize of just £10.

Last month, weegran became the very first FreeBingo player to reach the magic total of 1 million FB£s (free bingo pounds).

To mark the occasion we contacted weegran for an exclusive interview to find out a little bit more about FreeBingo’s #1 player and how she managed to reach this amazing target before anyone else…

Your name is weegran, so I presume you are small and Scottish? lol

“I am Scottish as the name implies, but that is not how I got it.

When my first 2 grandchildren  were born, they had lots of ‘grans’. If you count grandparents, great-grandparents and great-great grandparents they had 7 in total, so we each got a distinction.

At 5 foot 1 inches tall I was the smallest, hence the ‘weegran’.”

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

“I have been married twice, first to Ben for 28 years before he died of Motor Neurone Disease and we had 3 sons  and 2 daughters. I have been married to Bobby for the past 15 years and I’ve amassed 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren along the way.

I am retired now, but I spent all my working life in nursing. I started out working in hospitals before moving into community work and then going back to hospitals for my last 10 years.”

How often do you play at FreeBingo?

“I have been playing on FreeBingo for 3 years now after my son found the site for me. My husband had been left using a wheelchair due to a health issue and I was not getting out as much so it was a lifeline for me to be able to go and chat with other players, some of whom are now very good friends.

How do you feel about being the first player to reach 1 million FB£s?

“I am a person who just has to finish what I’ve started, so to reach the million was a fantastic feeling for me. I was up until 4.00am trying to reach the final few FB£s to get to a million, I was not going to bed until I got there!

I would like to thank my bingo friends for encouraging me as I neared the million, so a big hand for ravon3, jannerjanny, bettys_firstborn, busylizzy, cangaroo, gilliglin and all in Green House & Dog House for their support.“

What are your favourite bingo rooms and what is the biggest FB£ win you’ve ever had?

“I mostly play in either Dog House, Green House or the Speed Rooms, but I had my biggest ever win when I won one of tournaments in the Tournament Room which was about FB£6,000 I think.”

Have you ever won any prizes during your time on FreeBingo?

“I play as often as I can and I have been very lucky during my time at FreeBingo. I’ve won lots of prizes including an Amazon Kindle, a £25 paysafecard voucher, mugs, T-Shirts, pens and keyrings in various competitions, so yes I am very lucky.”

On Monday 19th March, we are going to be making lots of exciting changes to the bingo games and events you all know and love.

We will be ditching some of the regular events such as Big Breakfast & Penny Bingo, and we will be replacing them with some new events.

We are also going to be adding more of the most popular events, such as Double Dabbers, Diamond Heist and Grand Prix.

This Sunday marks the start of the Formula 1 season kicking off with the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne.

Seeing as we have our very own F1 Speed Bingo room, we thought it would be a fun idea to run a little tournament in this room each time there is a Formula 1 race.

Each tournament will last 2 hours and will begin at the same time as each Grand Prix is scheduled to begin. F1 fans can then play along and watch the race at the same time, or if you don’t care for it you can still enjoy the bingo fun!

Obviously these races take place all over the world, so there will be occasions like this where the tournaments run at very odd times, but if you are up and about it is a great chance to get ahead of the competition and scoop a big jackpot.

The prize for winning the each Grand Prix Tournament will be a FB£5,000 jackpot and the title of Champion for that particular race.

At the end of the Formula 1 season, all of the champions to have won one of these tournaments will be invited to a special Grand Final where they will compete for a special prize.
